THE PATHWAY TO UNIVERSITY ENTRY

1. The Ministry of Higher and Tertiary Education, Science and Technology Development has published the Zimbabwe National Qualifications Framework (ZNQF) document, which, among other issues, deals with (to quote the words of Hon. Prof. Dr. A Murwira, Minister of Higher and Tertiary Education, Science and Technology Development) "the vertical progression from Technical and Vocational Education route to the University education channel."

WHAT DOES THIS MEAN FOR THE ZIMBABAWE INSTITUTE OF LEGAL STUDIES?

  (i) We are a registered vocational training institution offering HEXCO programmes.
 (ii) HEXCO graduates progress from National Certificates or National Diploma or Higher National Diploma as depicted on the chart
      below extracted from the ZNQF document:-
(iii) This means that with a National Certificate qualification, for example in Applied Law, the holder can progress to University
      to study law, starting in the 1st year.
 (iv) WHAT DOES THIS MEAN FOR THE ZIMBABAWE INSTITUTE OF LEGAL STUDIES?A holder of a National Diploma in Applied Law can progress
      to University to study law, being exempted the 1st year, thus commencing studies in the 2nd year.
  (v) A holder of a Higher National Diploma in Applied Law can progress to University to study law, being exempted the 1st and 2nd 
      years, thus commencing studies in the 3rd year.
 (vi) The vertical progression route for the other programmes we offer, i.e. Mineral Law & Policy; Forensic Science & Crime
      Investigations; Forensic Accounting & Investigations and Commerce & Law is the same. 
		

2. Armed with your five "O" Levels you can embark on tertiary education with us knowing that in the fullness of time, through a seamless education system, you will progress to University, attain a Degree, and realise your dream of becoming a corporate lawyer, a legal practitioner, a forensic scientist, an expert in mineral law and policy, an administrator or a forensic accountant.

NOTES:

a) The National Diploma can be enrolled for after successful completion of the National Certificate.
b) The Higher National Diploma can be enrolled for after successful completion of the National Diploma.
